Louisville · First Saturday in May
The Kentucky Derby by Private Jet
One of the few weekends where having an aircraft isn't enough.
Derby weekend turns Louisville into one of the busiest general aviation destinations in the country for about seventy-two hours. The volume is high enough that arrivals and departures get actively managed rather than handled first come, first served.
In practice that means your trip depends on two separate things going right. You need an aircraft, which is a conversation with a broker. And you need a time to land and a place to park, which is a different conversation entirely — and the one people discover late.
The departure is usually tighter than the arrival. Everyone leaves inside the same few hours on Sunday, and the aircraft that brought you in may well have spent the weekend parked somewhere other than Louisville.
